Broadbridge Heath Parish Council – Community Resilience Plan
Published: 24 September 2025
While emergency services will always lead in a crisis, there may be times when they cannot reach us immediately. Our Resilience Plan sets out how the community can work together, use local knowledge, and provide practical support until help arrives.
What the Plan Covers
- Emergency Contacts – Key numbers for local authorities, utilities, and emergency services.
- Community Resources – Details of volunteers, equipment, and safe locations within the parish.
- Local Risks – Information about potential issues such as flooding, fallen trees, or prolonged power cuts.
- Communication – How the Parish Council will share updates with residents in an emergency.
How You Can Help
The strength of the plan depends on the community working together. Residents can get involved by:
- Volunteering to assist during emergencies.
- Sharing skills (e.g. first aid, chainsaw use, four-wheel drive vehicles).
- Keeping personal emergency kits and plans at home.
- Checking on neighbours, especially the elderly or vulnerable.
Why This Matters
The Resilience Plan is not about replacing the emergency services, but about supporting one another and making sure Broadbridge Heath is as prepared as possible. By taking simple steps and being aware of local arrangements, we can make our community stronger and safer.
